Homeopathy - what is it?
Homeopathy is a system of medicine that has its roots in Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece. In its present form, homeopathy was developed over two hundred years ago by a German physician, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. It is based on the law of similars, Similia Similibus Curentur, which translates as 'Like Cures Like'. This means that a substance, which when given in its raw form to a healthy person, produces certain symptoms, can, homoeopathically diluted, cure the same symptoms in a sick person. For example, the homeopathic remedy Coffea (coffee) is used to treat insomnia, while Apis(derived from the bee) is used to treat stings and similar histamine reactions.
There are over 3,500 homeopathic remedies derived from plants, minerals, metals and some poisons which have been medicinally used since ancient times.
Homeopathy takes a holistic approach to the cure of illness. It treats the whole person, not just the disease and works by strengthening the natural healing abilities within us, facilitating improved health.
Homeopathic remedies are made from minute quantities of natural substances, which have been specially processed to ensure that any toxic effects of theoriginal substance have been removed and only the curative properties remain.on all levels - physical, mental and emotional.
A healthy body is naturally programmed to self-heal - consider when you cut yourself the body redirects its resources to heal the wound. When this capacity for self-healing is compromised, due to factors such as stress, adverse environmental conditions or poor nutrition, the body cannot cope on its own.Homeopathic remedies work by stimulating the body's immune system to balance and restore itself so it can successfully overcome infections and disease.Homeopathic remedies are made from minute quantities of natural substances, which have been specially processed to ensure that any toxic effects of the original substance have been removed and only the curative properties remain.
